Residents of Ikorodu, Lagos, have cause to smile this weekend as national telecommun-ications operator, Globacom, has concludedarrangements to hold its hilarious comedy show, Glo Laffta Fest, in the town this Sunday.The company announced via a press statement in Lagos on Fridaythat the event would be held at the Ikorodu Musical Village at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 13. To make it acomedy show to remember, Globacom stated, the continent’s best comedians have been lined upto perform at the event. They include Basketmouth, Gordons, Salvador from Uganda, Helen Paul, Bash, Kenny Black and Acapella. The comics are expected to leave the audience reeling with laughter with hilarious jokes.Globacom-officesScreen divas, Uche Jombo and Ebube Nwagbo, will anchor the show which is expected to attract Glo subscribers and dignitaries from different areas of life. It will also have Nollywood legends, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Patience Ozokwor (Mama G), Odunlade Adekola and Mr. Latin as celebrity guests, Globacom said in the statement.“We are taking the fun to the heart of Ikorodu this Sunday. The people of this city should get ready to enjoy themselves like they have not done before. The experience will be simply breathtaking,” the company added.Giving an indication of what to expect at the show, Basketmouth urged the people of Ikorodu to expect “a pleasant surprise” as he is coming fully loaded for them. Similarly, Gordons, whose full name is Godwin Komone, said, “It would be a Sunday to remember for the people of Ikorodu”.To attend the Ikorodu Laffta Fest comedy show, Glo subscribers are expected to use up to N2,000 credit within one month and text LOL with the location name to the short code 240; for example, “LOL Ikeja” to 240.However, subscribers who do not meet this criterion but who wish to attend the show can buy N2,000 airtime at the venue to get a ticket for admission into the hall.FESTAC will host the show next weekend after which it will move toSuleja, Kano, Anyigba, Lokoja, Port Harcourt, Onitsha, Makurdi and Ajah.
The baby, whose manhood was chopped off by his step mother in Niger State, Dauda Buhari, is dead. The Director General of Child’s Right Agency, Mariam Kolo, disclosed that Buhari died in Wada village in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, after a brief malaria illness. Speaking with Punch, on Wednesday, Kolo said Buhari had “slight malaria which made his temperature to rise and he died even after he had been administered his prescribed drugs.” Kolo revealed that Buhari died at a time he was scheduled to undergo a genital transplant in the United Kingdom, UK. The DG said the sickness was not a relapse on his health, as he was doing extremely well after a series of corrective surgeries. Expressing sadness over the death of the baby who is now over a year old, Kolo said the case of the stepmother who is currently being remanded in the Old Minna Prison would be determined.
